Hi all,
Just to follow up from this thread (https://www.sportsmaserati.com/inde...argain-as-i-need-the-garage-for-new-gc.36831/) - I have indeed bought Guy (Kiwibrit's) 4200! Wanted to wait until officially in my name and taxed, but all is now done! Had a great drive up from Poole to Godalming on Monday evening, getting used to the car. Great fun, and whilst I drove very conservatively, it does have some power for sure - more so than my 08 Granturismo 4.2 I had for a short period!
It was a VERY opportune purchase (thanks again Guy!) - and thanks to the forum for just making oneself able to transfer quite large amounts of money to people having never met them. I had had people pay me for a car in full, before wanting to pick it up a couple of weeks later, but that was after meeting at my house - so this forum has a great respect to it - thank you. A quick phone call to my wife on the Thursday arvo when I was in the bathroom at work, and a 5 minute chat to Guy at a very loud pub, and we had agreed the deal. Too quick to get nervous I think
The car passed it's MOT this morning which was great, so I can now actually drive it properly. It will get a good clean and wax this weekend - although it does tear up the gravel driveway with the Cambiocorsa gearbox nicely!!
Fingers crossed it doesn't spring up too many issues - the MOT place I know well locally said perhaps get an outdoor bubble cover - are these recommended? Our family car gets the car port space unfortunately! Whilst the 4200 has been rust proofed I believe, I want to keep it nice for as long as possible.
The only item to address are the lights which are very fogged/scratched from Guy's and my attempts to polish - may get the pros involved.
A weird quirk I found if you turn the ignition key too far when driving the electrics don't work - wipers/indicators - had to stop first time and work out why, but all fine once you turn it back a few degrees.
Anyway, a final thank you to all, Conaro, Guy, other crazy people who egg each other on, thank you, and from my kids too, never thought I'd have one again - which is fine, priorities change, but this has enabled me to have a V8, and be cool to my 6 year old for a couple more years I hope.
May make it to an event too one of these days - I have a inter-livery clay shoot in May which I think I should turn up in this car for with the (borrowed) hunting jackets etc - all the gear, no idea.
Laurence
