So do you think it is likely that garage could do it on their OBD thingymajig, they were just doing it wrong?

From what I can remember with my 2014 car was that the OBD star I bought did successfully reset the service light. The one I have now has the 2 different resets required. My service guy has the tool to do them both

Possibly yes, I have an Autel AP200 dongle that connects to iPhone and that will even reset both lights. Cost like £70 from memory. Pre security box cars obvs.
